The annual Amherst Rotary Auction is available online NOW

Bidding Information

Our systems allows easy participation in the auction for those unable to watch on TV. The auction will have two phases: the online pre-auction, and the televised auction finale. People can participate either or both ways.  You are encouraged to submit bids for auction items online in advance, specifying the maximum you'd be willing to pay. That way you will have the chance to be the winning bidder even if you ’re unable to be tuned into channel 12 at the time when a favorite item comes up for live auction on TV.

The website's system for "Left Bids" or “Maximum Bids”, which is similar to that used by major auction houses and eBay, will then place bids for you using a small increment amount. It will bid only as much as necessary to make sure that you remain the high bidder (up to your maximum bid).

Bidder Registration:

To place an auction bid, first you need to register as a bidder.

On top of the online auction home screen, to the far right, there is a red button that says Login. Click that button and it will lead you to the login/registration screen. Under the submit button there is the word Register. Click on register and enter all fields as required and press save at the bottom. Then go to your email and check for a confirmation of your registration and click on the link to complete your registration. If you don't see the confirmation e-mail please check your junk e-mail box in case it went there instead.  The registration will not be complete until the confirmation email is received and acknowledged.

 How to Bid Online

Once you're registered as a bidder, login with the name and password you chose.  When you find an item to bid on, click on the item to enter the bidding screen and input the maximum you'd be willing to pay for the item. The system will take care of the rest. If you're the high bidder, it will continue to bid for you up to the end of the auction or to your maximum bid.

Auction Finale

During the auction finale on TV, online bidding will be closed just after the items are introduced, so people can call in phone bids. Online bidders will be represented by a proxy bidder in the studio who will bid on the item up to the Maximum Bid recorded online. To simplify the phone bidding process, please register on the website first, and remember your Bidder ID. Give your bidder ID to the phone operator to bid quickly and simply.

Auction Winners

The winner of each auction will be declared by the on-air Auctioneer, and each winner will be contacted by phone to confirm. If we are unable to confirm a bid over the phone, the item may go to the next highest bidder.

Tax Considerations

If your winning bid exceeds the fair market value of the item, the excess is considered a donation and you may be eligible for a tax deduction. The IRS has more information on their website.
